One of the main flaw of big IT consulting companies is to consider, at high level at least, employees and consultants only as resources, with a cost, a return on investment, a sell rate and a placement potential. While first and second line management might be more human in their consideration, it often leads to terrible situations where economic decisions drive layoffs which have huge personal impact on the employee himself (and his/her family), but also to the company itself, and worse, to its client.

Driving Human Resources in IT consulting world as what they are, human individuals with talents, needs, dreams and capabilities is an another approach that privileges trust, loyalty and wellness to meet individual’s top performance without giving up on values.

This requires extra work on Hiring process. Finding a top talent which shares the same values and interest than the company, who is eager to grow alongside his employeer, who want to bring this extra value that will make a real difference implies, on the company side, to be honnest and transparent with him : objectives are known, expected performance is clear and mutually agreed, and recognition, reward is following related performance.

Real attention to employee wellness (outside of formatted speeches), support and care, of its work environment, respect to individuals in work relationships (horizontal and vertical), without giving up on company strategy and economic goals are golden.

This extra care always pays off. Turnover rate is lower, performance is higher, and you reinforce a culture of collaboration, attachement to the company and high human values, bringing inclusive prosperity on the hedge of your company common values.
